BOB SANDLER
FOUNDER
Bob Sandler was a Graduate Gemologist (GIA), World War II veteran, award-winning designer, and founder of the company. In 1966, he received the prestigious Diamonds International Award in recognition of his excellence in jewelry design.
He loved creating opulent, colorful jewelry for clients around the world. One of the most remarkable projects Designer Jewels ever undertook was crafting the championship rings for the original hockey team, Houston Aeros—for both of their back-to-back championships.
He passed away in 2025, just 11 days shy of his 101st birthday.
MARK SANDLER
PRESIDENT
Mark is a Master Gemologist Appraiser, credentialed through the American Society of Appraisers. Mark runs the business and can do everything from cast metals, alloy gold for our jewelry creations and be an expert witness for estate settlements. Mark is a graduate of the University of Texas.
MATTHEW SANDLER
Matthew is a goldsmith and jeweler in our workshop. Matthew is a graduate of the New Approach School of Jewelry Design, and assists our Master Jeweler in the creation of our jewelry.
KATHI SANDLER
Kathi is our Office Manager and keeps all of us on the straight and narrow. Kathi is also a University of Texas graduate, (all those Longhorns!) and takes care of all things money. She is also an Accredited Jewelry Professional (AJP) through GIA.
PHYLLIS PAINTER
Phyllis is also a Graduate Gemologist (GIA) and an Accredited Senior Gemologist (AGA). Phyllis assists with the day to day operations that include appraisals, jewelry sales, and design. Phyllis has more than 25 years of experience in the jewelry business.
EDDIE VELEZ
Eddie is our Master Jeweler and has been with Designer Jewels for more than 25 years. He has more than 50 years in the business and always has a smile on his face and empanadas in a bag! If it can be made, Eddie can make it.
